Farm Manager

We currently need one Farm Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION: To plan and carry out the day to day operational aspects of the stock and pastoral management, with the key objective being to maximise the productivity and profitability of the property, without compromising condition, stock or human resources.

Wage: $ 19.00- 20.19 /hour

Experience: Minimum 1 year

Start date: ASAP

Qualification:

  • has experience running large modern seeding and harvest equipment
  • knowledgeable in grain farming
  • must be able to read, write and speak good English
  • mechanically and technically inclined
  • willing to do menial jobs such as clean bins, grease equipment, clean equipment/vehicle cabs to our standards, clean shop16. has a 1A or equivalent
  • willing to work long hours when needed eg seeding and harvest
  • Must have excellent command over English communication, reading and writing.
  • Completion of Secondary School is required.
  • Must be reliable and honest, self motivated, and conscientious, able to adapt to changes quickly
  • Must be a quick learner, and able to do work accurately
  • Have experience running large modern seeding and harvest equipment, has a 1A or equivalent.
  • Non-smoker, must not use any drugs
  • Should be punctual for daily working hours
  • Must be married/have family.
  • Have good old-fashion work ethics, has good morals and value

Job Duties:

  • Ensure implementation of annual budget and production plan
  • Directs and coordinates worker activities, such as planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting, grading, payroll, and recordkeeping.
  • Hire and supervise farm workers
  • Establish a marketing program
  • Purchase farm machinery, livestock, seed, feed and other supplies
  • Maintain farm machinery, equipment and buildings
  • Develop and keep financial and production records. Coordinates growing activities with those of engineering, equipment maintenance, packing houses, and other related departments.
  • Records information, such as production, farm management practices, and parent stock, and prepares financial and operational reports.
  • Execute basic maintenance of farm facilities, Manage day to day operations of farm
  • Maintain records and handle paperwork for county and state permits and certifications
  • Supervise and manage farm staff and interns
  • Develop distribution infrastructure for retail sales
  • Plan and implement propagation for annual sales
